    TECHNICAL FIELD
    The present invention relates to a computer-implemented method, system and computer program product for querying a database and for searching and reporting relevant patent documents, more in particular for providing a clear and compact report document with data from relevant patent documents.
    BACKGROUND
    It is known to search for data from patent documents in databases, where a user enters search terms and the search engine reports various patent documents to the user.
    The problem with the known reports on patent documents is that, on the one hand, due to a massive amount of content or, on the other hand, due to a small amount of content on a particular patent document, it gives a divergent amount of information for the various patent documents found. This results in very clumsy and unclear overviews of patent data. Often a user wants to be able to quickly judge the various documents in a so-called report. However, the different amounts of data quickly confuse the user, so that he loses the overview, and the time to pass judgment quickly increases enormously.
    There is a need for a more adapted form for querying a database and for searching and reporting relevant patent documents. There is also a need for a more user-friendly, well-arranged and easier to interpret report of such patent document data.
    The present invention has an improved method as object that offers a solution for at least one of the aforementioned disadvantages when querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, as defined by claim 1. The present invention also has an improved system and improved computer program product as an article, as defined by claims 10 and 11, respectively.
    SUMMARY
    To this end the invention provides in a first aspect a computer-implemented method for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which computer-implemented method comprises the following consecutive steps: - a user entering one or more multiple search terms each according to a search category; - searching in a database for one or more electronic patent documents based on the said one or more search terms with the corresponding search category; - reporting data from said one or more electronic patent documents to the user, whereby the corresponding data to be reported for each said electronic patent document is provided on one page of an electronic report document.
    In a second aspect, the invention relates to a system for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which system comprises a central processing unit, which is configured for carrying out the computer-implemented method as defined by claims 1- 9.
    In a third aspect the invention relates to a computer program product for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which computer program product comprises at least one computer-readable medium on which computer-readable program code portions are stored, which program code portions include instructions for performing the computer-implemented method as defined by claims 1-9.

    Figure 1 shows a page for an electronic report document, which illustrates a preferred form for a method according to the present invention.
    DETAILED DESCRIPTION
    "A", "de" and "het" in this document refer to both the singular and the plural unless the context clearly assumes otherwise. For example, "a data field" means one or more than a data field.
    In the following, the invention is described a.d.h.v. non-limiting examples illustrating the invention, and which are not intended or may be interpreted to limit the scope of the invention.
    In a first aspect, the present invention relates to a computer-implemented method for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which computer-implemented method comprises the following consecutive steps: - a user entering one or more search terms each according to a search category; - searching in a database for one or more electronic patent documents based on the said one or more search terms with the corresponding search category; - reporting data from said one or more electronic patent documents to the user, whereby the corresponding data to be reported for each said electronic patent document is provided on one page of an electronic report document.
    In a preferred form the said data is subdivided into one or earlier data fields.
    In a preferred preferred form, each said page of the report document comprises a table, which table comprises table cells, which table cells comprise a data field.
    In a more preferred preferred form, said data field comprises text, a figure, hyperlink, audio and / or video file.
    In a preferred form, the implementation, order and / or layout for the said data fields on the page is determined by the availability of data for the corresponding data field.
    In a preferred form, the data for a data field is reduced with an exceeding predetermined maximum amount of data.
    In a preferred form, said reduction occurs by truncating said data to a predetermined maximum amount of data.
    In a preferred form, said reduction occurs by intelligently filtering said data to a predetermined maximum amount of data.
    In a preferred form, each said page for the report document is provided with a footer and / or a header, which is provided with a logo, date, page number, disclaimer and / or file number.
    In a second aspect, the invention relates to a system for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which system comprises a central processing unit, which is configured for carrying out the computer-implemented method.
    In a third aspect the invention relates to a computer program product for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which computer program product comprises at least one computer-readable medium on which computer-readable program code portions are stored, which program code portions include instructions for performing the computer-implemented method.
    EXAMPLE
    Figure 1 shows a page for an electronic report document, which illustrates a preferred form for a method according to the present invention.
    This page comprises various data fields (10) - (29) according to a patent document which was found in a patent database based on a search string of search terms. These data fields (10) - (29) are suitable in a table, wherein each table cell comprises a title (20) - (29) and corresponding content data (10) - (19). The data fields in this preferred form relate to the Publication Number (20), Application Date (21), Title (English) (22), Title DWPI (23), Applicant (24), Front Page Drawing (25), Conclusions (English) (26) ), INPADOC Family members (27), Extract (28) and Extract DWPI Novelty (29) for the aforementioned patent document.
    The drawing front page (15) comprises a figure. The publication number (20) comprises a hyperlink to an external website in which a more extensive overview of data can be consulted by the user.

    A computer-implemented method for querying a database and the targeted search and reporting of relevant patent documents, which computer-implemented method comprises the following consecutive steps: - entering by one user of one or more search terms each according to a search category; - searching in a database for one or more electronic patent documents based on the said one or more search terms with the corresponding search category; - reporting data from said one or more electronic patent documents to the user, characterized in that per said electronic patent document the corresponding data to be reported (10) - (29) is provided on one page with an electronic report document.

    Method according to the preceding claim 1, characterized in that the said data are subdivided into one or more data fields.

    Method according to the preceding claim 2, characterized in that each said page of the report document comprises a table, which table comprises table cells, which table cells comprise a data field.
